An Italian seaside town is dealing with a growing peacock population that has sparked tensions between residents who find them noisy and unhygienic and those who welcome them.

A feral peacock population of about 120 birds has colonised Punta Marina, a seaside town of 1,000 residents in Italy's Emilia-Romagna region, with Ravenna city council planning a census and enlisting animal rights group Clama to manage tensions after a 2022 relocation attempt was opposed.
