The UK government announced on March 31, 2026, that police will stop investigating non-crime hate incidents (NCHIs) following a review by the College of Policing and National Police Chiefs' Council, with Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood stating forces will no longer police legal tweets and will instead focus on serious crimes.
